Dear Robert,

This sermon was so totally moving for me as i read through it! I am pastoring a flailing church, and the numbers dwindling down regardless of how i pray and try to improve things there. But today, just before i go into this morning's service, i want to thank you for the inspiration your sermon has given me, to share about the importance of fellowship.

I believe, injected with some Rhema from your sermon, what I will share today, infused with the Holy Spirit, will make a big difference! Praying your church will prosper in fellowship, and all that you need.

Blessings,
Vas

What a great story. I grew up going to Southland. My grandfather and Wayne are cousins so he he was always around when I was a kid. What I remember best are his sermons. He is one of a kind. I'm glad you had that experience.

Oooh, Robert! I think you've stumbled onto something without realizing it!

"you’re going to have John 6:66 in your church too"

John 6:66? John 666!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Maybe we've discovered the actual identity of the anti-christ! Maybe the anti-christ is at least distantly related to church leaders who try to draw religious followers with the show rather than with the hard truth, or who refuse to eventually GET TO the hard truth. Jesus DID do the fish sammiches (although not to attract, but to meet a need -- maybe that should inform our special events and projects), but he didn't leave it there. He took them deeper, or tried to. The ones who followed when he did were the ones who were blessed.

I actually found this blog very meaningful and also insightful. One thing that i personally am pushing if for us to get back to the church of Acts as many of you have said "breaking bread, fellowship, prayer, reading of the word" etc. It is very sad how the modern church swings with the pendulum whatever is popular thats how we should go about it. If only many of them would allow God to lead because in the end only he knows what is needed and what is always best. I really like the comment (excuse the paraphrase) "we seek to save them then put them in the pew waiting for Jesus" I found that very true and also convicting.

Chris you should read your Bible more often. You don't understand the sin topic very well. You are sinful by nature. Whatever you do on your own is like a garbage in eyes of God. Truly mercy comes with Jesus. He gave his life because you and me and anybody else can't make it without him.

Now the topic about these who will never see/hear Gods word during their life. You underestimate God. He made beautiful world and even in today shape it shows His glory. Missionaries made to very remote and surprising places. God also never gave up His miracles. He doesn't use them often between western people. We was given powerful civilization and our fathers has the obligation to pass the knowledge. But don't think the Lord is out of control. You don't see the president every day and he is doing his job anyway.

Hope it helped a bit :-)

Robert Burns' 'To a Louse', last stanza:

Original Scottish version:

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us
An foolish notion:
What airs in dress an gait wad lea'es us,
An ev'n devotion!
